ABOUT JIM
Forty-Six Happy Years in Munson
Jim has been helping Munsonites since he was sixteen, bolted a winch to his Jeep, and started pulling cars out of snowbanks in the blizzard of ’78–’79. His parents and their five boys moved here in 1971. They lived at the end of Bradford Drive, happily thought by the boys to be the very center of the Geauga snow belt.
Jim graduated from Chardon High School in 1981, and then earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Agricultural Production and Biology at Wilmington College. He began his career with The Pattie Group, one of the premier landscaping firms in Northeast Ohio.
Successful Entrepreneur and Business Leader
Jim set up shop on his own in 2003. McCaskey Landscape & Design has been successful and growing ever since. His colleagues in the industry soon turned to him for leadership. From 2005 to 2011, he was on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Landscape Association and was its president in 2010. In 2002, he joined the Board of Directors of The Middlefield Banking Company and helped them become a NASDAQ-listed public company in 2015.

Munson Township Trustee
Jim was elected Munson Township Trustee in 2013 and is seeking re-election in 2017.
Jim is particularly proud of what he has contributed toward upgrading the road department, managing the transition to our new zoning inspector, getting as much as we have from our limited budget, and managing effective relationships with the county sheriff, county engineer, and regional funding organizations.
Mostly he is proud of his reputation as the guy who won’t stop until he has found a practical win-win solution to the problem at hand.
Proud Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Son
Jim married Ronda, his college sweetheart, and they’ve been together thirty-two years. Ronda is a registered nurse in the NICU at University Hospitals. Their oldest, Tim, helps run the landscaping business. Their daughter, Caitlyn, is a nurse in the ICU at Hillcrest Hospital. Their youngest, Nicole, teaches special-needs children in Springfield. And Jim and Ronda are now doting grandparents to three beautiful girls! Jim’s brothers are all successful entrepreneurs. People say they inherited their can-do attitude from their father, Jack, a businessman known around Geauga for his voter registration drives, and from their mother, Pat, whose Century 21 realtors helped so many of us find homes.
Jim is so happy to be contributing to the township that welcomed him and his family forty-six years ago.
